DSOGaming will join the fight against SOPA and will black-out on January 18th

I really wanted my first editorial article – for 2012 – to be about the things that have happened these past months in DSOGaming and its overall progress, but that will have to wait. As you may have heard, members of the House Committee will be discussing PIPA/SOPA in Washington, D.C. Although DSOGaming is not based in USA, we will join the fight against SOPA and will black-out in protest of legislation that would allow DNS and Search Engine Blocking. Hey, we know that we are a relatively small website, but when you do support something, you simply have to show it, right? We strongly suggest every major gaming site to join the fight. This is something that will affect all of us. Why you ask? Wait until you can’t reach our site at all because you won’t have the power to decide what websites you can and cannot reach. Yeah, SOPA is THAT bad. Continue reading DSOGaming will join the fight against SOPA and will black-out on January 18th

Microsoft in an attempt to milk the golden cow with the Kinect PC

A few hours ago, Microsoft announced that Kinect will be coming to the PC. Great news, right? Well it would be if Microsoft wasn’t trying to milk the golden cow. You see, instead of offering PC gamers the chance to experience Kinect as it is, Microsoft is releasing a brand new device for it that has minimal to no changes with the X360 version. Well, apart from a new motion camera feature called ‘near mode’ that allows the camera to be used as close as 50cm away. Not only that, but Kinect for PC is priced, significantly higher than the X360 one. Continue reading Microsoft in an attempt to milk the golden cow with the Kinect PC

Top 10 PC Optimized Games of 2011

2012 is almost upon us and it’s about time to take a look at 2011’s PC offers. However, here is something interesting with this Top10. This is not a Top 10 Best PC Games of 2011. Since we’ve been covering the performance of all the latest PC titles, we decided to make a Top 10 with the best and most optimized PC games of 2011. Therefore, this list takes into consideration the ability of a game to take advantage of quad-cores, whether or not is full of bugs, its graphical options and its ability – and whether the specifications are justified – to push the boundaries of each and every DX API. So, take a deep breath and here we go… Continue reading Top 10 PC Optimized Games of 2011

Are we that desperate for Half-Life 3 or is Valve truly hinting towards a 2012 reveal?

Man, this simply can’t be a simple coincidence. It’s pretty much clear that most of us want to see Half-Life 3 and it’s true that Valve has been hinting for it, but is that all we got? Apparently not as all hell has broken loose these past days. Forget the HL3 T-Shirt and the fact that Gabe Newell – that’s according to an insider so take it with a grain of salt – has given the green light to Valve’s employees to start hinting about the next Half-Life title. Yeah, those are quite good enough in order to assume that we’ll have some news about HL3 in 2012 but Valve themselves has given us lots of little hints and easter eggs these past days. Continue reading Are we that desperate for Half-Life 3 or is Valve truly hinting towards a 2012 reveal?

Radeon 7970 Round-Up; AMD is back with a punch

And it’s finally been revealed. AMD’s latest high-end GPU model that is based on the ‘Tahiti’ chip has just been unveiled and it’s the fastest single-GPU card on the market. Which was to be expected but what are the performance gains that PC gamers can expect from it? According to the earlier leaks, Radeon 7970 was expected to be 60% faster than Nvidia’s GTX580. Sadly though, the card is not that much faster. There are cases where the gap between these two cards is almost around 50% and it’s definitely the faster single-GPU, but it’s nowhere as fast as we wished. Oh, and the card can’t touch Nvidia’s dual-chip offer, the GTX590, despite earlier rumors suggesting that it would be almost on-par with it. Why Epic’s new IP, Fortnite, should NOT come to the PC

Cliff Bleszinski and PC gamers are in open war for a couple of years. So imagine our surprise when Cliffy B stepped on VGA’s yesterday and announced Fortnite, Epic’s new IP that is clearly inspired by our beloved Minecraft. And although both Cliff and Epic haven’t announced the game’s platforms, we strongly suggest Epic to avoid releasing it on the PC at all costs. Why? Keep reading to find out. Why the new South-Park RPG is doomed to fail

Now this is surprising. THQ and Obsidian announced yesterday – via the videogame magazine GameInformer – that a new South Park RPG is in the makings. Now this is great and we are overly excited about it. There is a lot of potential here and Obsidian could attone for their previous sins with such a game. However, we fear that this new game is doomed to fail. Why? Well keep reading to find out! Continue reading Why the new South-Park RPG is doomed to fail

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Five Mods we are really looking forward to

Skyrim has just been released and there are already some mods in the works. We took a good look at most of them and here are the five most anticipated ones that could be released in the following days. Before jumping to early conclusions, these mods are quite easy to be implemented and do not require a lot of work. Of course we’d love to see an AI overhaul but let’s face it; a mod like that is really ambitious and will most probably won’t be completed anytime soon. So, instead of listing the mods that are likely to see the light of day, here are five that are essential to every PC gamer.
