Dead Island: Riptide – PC Performance Analysis

Dead Island Riptide
Dead Island: Riptide releases tomorrow and we’ve prepared a Performance Analysis that covers – naturally – its PC version. Dead Island: Riptide is powered by the Chrome 5 Engine, an engine that powered Call of Juarez: The Cartel and the first Dead Island game. And since it’s the same engine, it will be interesting to compare the original Dead Island with Riptide, and see whether or not Techland has addressed some of its issues. StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm – PC Performance Analysis

Starcraft 2 v4
Before starting this analysis, let us tell you that we are big fans of StarCraft 2. StarCraft 2 is a global phenomenon and we are really enjoying watching all the talented players duking it out on eSports. One of the biggest issues of it, however, was its single threaded capabilities of its engine and since Blizzard has released the first expansion of StarCraft 2, it’s time to see whether the company has tweaked the game’s engine or not. Bioshock: Infinite – PC Performance Analysis

Bioshock Infinite v2
Bioshock: Infinite has been released and it’s time to see how Irrational Games’ title performs on the PC platform. Bioshock: Infinite is the third part in the Bioshock franchise and this time around, Irrational Games did not repeat its earlier mistakes and decided to take advantage of the PC hardware. This means that the PC version comes with higher resolution textures than its console counterparts, as well as with some exclusive DX11 features. Bioshock: Infinite is a DX10/DX11 only title, and Irrational has also implemented an in-game FOV slider, so kudos to the company for at least listening to the PC crowd. Resident Evil 6 – PC Performance Analysis

Resident Evil 6 v2
A couple of weeks ago, Capcom released a benchmark tool for Resident Evil 6. Even though this tool was a stress test and nothing more, a lot of PC gamers got worried with those low framerates they’ve been witnessing. Fast forward and here we are today with the final build of the game that is nowhere as demanding as the stress tool. In other words, there is no reason to worry as your ranking is what most of you should be focusing on. Continue reading Resident Evil 6 – PC Performance Analysis

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – PC Performance Analysis

Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 v4
It’s a bit ironic, but Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 was originally meant to be out just a couple of months after the release of Sniper Elite V2. In order to further polish its title, though, City Interactive decided to delay it almost a year before unleashing it to the masses. The funny thing here is that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is average at best, is full of scripted events, and is packed with mediocre visuals. Yes, the game is powered by CryEngine 3 and even though the debut screenshots looked good enough – back in 2012 – the final build looks underwhelming. Tomb Raider – PC Performance Analysis

Tomb Raider v2
Nvidia has finally released a new beta driver for Tomb Raider, so it’s time to see how this title performs on the PC platform. The PC version of Tomb Raider was developed by Nixxes, the same studio that was behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Hitman: Absolution. DE:HR suffered from some minor stuttering issues, but was – generally speaking – an amazing PC version of a multi-platform game. Hitman: Absolution, on the other hand, suffered from optimization issues. Not only that, but some graphical effects of Hitman: Absolution were calculated by the CPU instead of the GPU. Truth be told, we were a bit worried about this whole thing and it appears that Tomb Raider also suffers from various optimization issues (though this time around, the CPU is not calculating any graphical effect).

Dead Space 3 – PC Performance Analysis

Dead Space 3 v2
Before starting, let us apologize for not offering you this Performance Analysis sooner. Unfortunately, EA seemed hesitant on sending a PC review copy, and that’s why we had to delay it. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Visceral Games’ Executive Producer lied about offering the same gaming experience to all platforms or because EA feared that we’d bring the hammer down on it. Either way, EA should not be so ashamed of it. Why you ask? But because Dead Space 3 is a fine PC port. Yes, there isn’t any FOV option and the game suffers low-resolution textures but overall, this is as good as most multi-platform games, has proper on-screen keyboard indications, has amazing mouse support, and is not taxing – while looking great – at all. Crysis 3 – PC Performance Analysis

Crysis 2 v4
Crysis 3 has been unleashed on the PC and it’s time to see how Crytek’s latest FPS title performs on the PC platform. As you may have heard, Crysis 3 is a DX11-only title and we have to confess that it sports the best visuals we’ve ever seen. However, it seems that CryEngine 3 is being pushed to its limits with those physics calculations that were introduced. Ironically, all physics are calculated by the CPU, meaning that you will nee a really top of the line CPU in order to enjoy it. But more on this later. Continue reading Crysis 3 – PC Performance Analysis

Aliens: Colonial Marines – PC Performance Analysis

Aliens Colonial Marines v2
Well, we kind of saw that coming. Back when Gearbox and SEGA showcased Aliens: Colonial Marines, we were worried about its direction. Everyone was expecting Aliens: Colonial Marines to rule their world and instead of that, they got a big letdown. In fact, here is what we wrote back in December: “I seriously hope that this new Aliens game will surprise me pleasantly, though I’m a bit disappointed from what I’ve already seen”. We could bash this new Aliens game, but then again this is not a Review for Gearbox’s title. Though to be honest, its gameplay mechanics are similar to those of other FPS titles, so it’s kind of bizarre witnessing websites and magazines bringing the hammer down on this Aliens game, when they have been enjoying this type of games and have been giving high scores to such titles this whole time. But anyway, let’s see how Aliens: Colonial Marines performs on the PC platform. Continue reading Aliens: Colonial Marines – PC Performance Analysis

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon – PC Performance Analysis

Ace Combat Assault Horizon
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is the first Ace Combat on the PC. Ironically, the PC version is the definite version of Namco’s flight combat title, though this port is not up to the level of what Square Enix and its studios have been offering to us. However, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon PC is a better console port than Dark Souls PC, so kudos to Namco for heading towards the right way.
