By now you’ve likely seen Fallout 76’s overwhelmingly bad reception. Mainstream sites have roasted it, the internet has mocked it, and retailers have slashed the price of it. The oft-heard critical terms are glitchy, soulless, broken, cash-grab, early-access, and junk. All these and more hang over Fallout 76 like a condemning toxic cloud. Continue reading Fallout 76 Review: Semi-Wasted, Semi-Wonderful

Hitman 2 Review: It’s a Hit, Man…2
It was many years ago that I first played as Agent 47, and I found the game series interesting but a bit too slow in how you must have the patience to wait for the right moment to kill your designated victim. I know, I know; these are stealth games so they have to be slow-paced. Given the pacing and my lack of skill in this genre, I’d just dabble in prior Hitman games back when game magazines would come with demo discs and such. Continue reading Hitman 2 Review: It’s a Hit, Man…2
Ashen Review: It’s Dark Souls but Much Worse
Last Thursday at The Game Awards the announcement was made: Ashen is out now, exclusive to the Epic Games Store (why?). This game, years in the making, is suddenly unleashed upon the world with almost no marketing and not available on the world’s largest game store (Steam). A dubious start. So what is this game, and is it worth the wait? Continue reading Ashen Review: It’s Dark Souls but Much Worse
Underworld Ascendant Review
Underworld Ascendant is a first person action role playing game, developed by Otherside Entertainment. You might know the developers from the predecessors Ultima Underworld I & II. You might also know them as Looking Glass from other titles such as System Shock and Thief; games that even today are being held in high regard by many old-school gamers.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead Review
I love zombies; Dawn of the Dead is one of my favourite films and the first Resident Evil is one of my favourite games. I have played too many zombie games and even if the whole zombie genre is becoming a bit tiresome, in general, I still enjoy playing them… well most of them. I am also a huge fan of the TV show, even if the latest seasons dropped in quality. I have played all of Telltale’s (RIP) games except the final season and I even played “Survival Instinct” – oh yes I did.
Call of Cthulhu Review
“Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn” (“In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.”). H. P. Lovecraft’
No, this is not a first person shooter starring the lord Cthulhu; trying to save the world in the name of duty. It is a very different game, a much slower game so some will love it and some will hate it. I did neither of those… I just fell asleep in my chair… twice.
Project Warlock – Review
For me, there is nothing like taking a break from all the cover-based shooting, open worlds and stealth mechanics with a well-crafted first person shooter. These games are like the taking shots at the bar: They may not be as fancy as wine or as intricate as a cocktail, but they are hard, fast, and guarantee a night to remember! Continue reading Project Warlock – Review
Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review: Lamentable Lara
Do you have too much happiness in your life? Are you tired of uplifting adventure? Then have we got the game for you! Shadow of the Tomb Raider delivers non-stop frowning, pouting, and despair mixed with a whole heap of incoherent storytelling! Oh, and there’s a totally lame season pass! Act now and you too can witness Lara Croft go from gaming legend to insufferable whiner! Awesome, right!? Continue reading Shadow of the Tomb Raider Review: Lamentable Lara
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Review
Assassin’s Creed found its way to us way back in 2007, inspired by the Prince of Persia series. Since then, it has come a long, long way with the latest iteration bringing about some of the most extensive changes to date. I have been a fan of the series since the first game. Not all of them have been great, some not even good, but there have been many for me that were a fantastic and memorable experience. So much of what makes these games great for me are the setting they’re in, and I love the architecture, history, the myth and lore of Ancient Greece. Throw that in with a massive open world RPG concept and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
Dragon Quest XI – Review
Back in the 80’s when Hollywood still cared about Val Kilmer and mullets were a conscious fashion statement, software entrepreneurs noticed a growing market in Japan for role-playing, computer games based on Dungeons and Dragons. They decided to give Japanese game designers a crack at the genre and, in a flash, JRPG’s were suddenly all gamers at the time could talk about. Continue reading Dragon Quest XI – Review
