DSOGaming – Tyranny Review

After a 400-year war, Kyros the Overlord has almost united the realm of Terratus under his iron fist. But is (s)he a truly nefarious god-like entity? When is a conqueror evil? Aren’t most civilized countries on our planet soaked in the blood of their original inhabitants? Aren’t massacring megalomaniacs hailed as honorable heroes in famous sagas and History classes alike? Can we tell the difference between a smooth-talking demagogue and a merciless but law-abiding leader? Continue reading DSOGaming – Tyranny Review

DSOGaming – Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator Review

If you are like me and immediately thought of Monkey Island’s famous insult duels when reading the title ‘Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator’, then you are pretty much on the money. Two lingua-dualists pick turns and choose parts of speech (verbs, nouns, conjunctions and short phrases) from a shared pool. The goal is to form a long and funny insult that will drain ego-hit-points from your foe… before she or he does the same to you. It’s dorky and silly, but it’s also brilliant and, when it works, it’s amazing. Continue reading DSOGaming – Oh…Sir!! The Insult Simulator Review

DSOGaming – Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter Review

Frogwares is mostly known for its Sherlock Holmes adventure games, dating back to Mystery of the Mummy (2002) but it was the new Crimes & Punishment (2014) reboot that introduced the Ukraine-based studio to a broader audience. The new Sherlock is a flashy, sexy version of the world’s greatest detective, obviously based on the recent action films starring Robert Downey Jr: Sherlock takes note of his surroundings and profiles interviewees based on their clothes, physical attributes and demeanor, he then studies the evidence, draws conclusions through logic-based diagrams and then… he acts (preferably in theatrical fashion). As far as Detective Mystery games go, Crimes & Punishment was a fresh approach; Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter follows closely, but unfortunately falls short. Continue reading DSOGaming – Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter Review

DSOGaming – Factorio Review

Now before we get started I should fully disclose that Factorio is not for the faint of heart. When I first got my key  from the game’s developers, I told myself that I had to launch a rocket before I could ever write this review. Little did I know that to launch a rocket was a MASSIVE undertaking that took me roughly 40 hours to complete. With that being said, let’s dig in (no pun intended). Continue reading DSOGaming – Factorio Review

DSOGaming – Bunker Punks Review

Nearly a year ago I interviewed Shane Neville and Independent Developer. At that time Shane was working on a little title called Bunker Punks, well it is now available. About 4 weeks ago Shane reached out to me via email about doing a review of Bunker Punks and I happily obliged as I have been incredibly excited for this title’s release. For those of you who haven’t heard about Bunker Punks, it is a Roguelike FPS/ Base Builder available for PC/Mac that was released on March 30th into early access. Continue reading DSOGaming – Bunker Punks Review

DSOGaming – Forced: Showdown Review

Forced: Showdown, while retaining the same name as its parent title, this iteration in the series is quite different from its predecessor. What sets Forced: Showdown apart from the original Forced is its new card system. In Forced: Showdown you battle your way through an arena filled with worthy (or not so worthy) adversaries all waiting for the opportunity to dispatch your gladiator, with the goal of fame and fortune! Continue reading DSOGaming – Forced: Showdown Review

DSOGaming – Kwaan Review

I usually try to balance out my gaming plate with a nice big helping of indie games, although in the past I haven’t had the time to review a lot of them simply because there were so many big releases that the indie games kind of fell below my radar. Kwaan has my latest does of Indie and it definitely gets a lot of things right while also falling short in many other departments. Lets dig a little deeper. Continue reading DSOGaming – Kwaan Review

DSOGaming – XCOM 2 Review

I have never been so frustrated with a game while also so driven to finish it. XCOM 2 even at its easiest difficulty is absolutely brutal and only the most diligent of commanders will be able to make it through the entire game without losing any of your troops and even then it is unlikely. In my 35 hours of gameplay I only lost 3 of my own, and they were not rookies either. Continue reading DSOGaming – XCOM 2 Review
