Modder ‘FCH823’ has released an HD Texture Pack for BioShock Remastered that overhauls over 2300 textures. This pack is 5GB in size, and it’s a must for everyone who wants to replay this classic shooter on PC.
BioShock Remastered came out in 2016. Disappointingly, though, the remaster still had a lot of low-resolution textures that made the game look blurry. Thankfully, by using this pack, you can get a crisp and high-quality image.
Going into more details, the modder upscaled by two and by four times most diffuse and specular textures, depending on content and original resolution. This includes all types of textures (environment, objects, adverts, etc…) except the UI which is not stored as textures. Moreover, FCH823 reworked a couple of textures by hand to fix some mistakes that were introduced in BioShock Remastered.
The result is pretty great, and you can find below some comparison screenshots between the vanilla and the modded textures. You can also find more comparison images on its NexusMods page (from where you can also download it).
As you will see, the new textures retain the art style of the game. That’s the beauty of most AI-powered HD Texture Packs. Thus, this mod is a must for those who want to replay the game.
As said, this mod is only for BioShock Remastered. It will NOT work with the original version of BioShock that came out in 2007.
Speaking of AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs, we also suggest taking a look at these for some other games. In October 2023, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and Half-Life 2 got two cool AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs. Yesterday, we also shared an AI-upscaled pack for Grim Fandango Remastered. Let’s also not forget these AI-enhanced mods for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. You can also find packs for Far Cry 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Blood 2, Dark Souls 2, FEAR, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and Resident Evil 7.
Have fun!
