Modder ‘fromsoftserve’, the man behind the Scholar of the Second Sin Visual Overhaul Mod for Dark Souls 2, has released a new mod for Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 3 Visual Overhaul adds dynamic shadows to almost every object, and it’s a must-have mod for all DS3 players.
Going into more details, this mod removes unneeded point lights not based on an actual light source. Moreover, it adds shadowcasting to some torches/light sources, and improves the game’s water reflections. And, as said, the mod adds shadows to almost every object in the game (grass, rocks, buildings, etc.).
This overhaul mod can significantly improve the graphics of Dark Souls 3, and we highly recommend downloading it from here. Below you can also find some screenshots, as well as a gameplay video for it. These will give you an idea of what you can expect from this new Dark Souls 3 graphics mod. And, as you will see, these new dynamic shadows are a nice welcome to the grim world of Dark Souls 3.
It’s also worth noting that Elden Ring saw a similar mod. Created by modder ‘chainfailure’, this mod forces all light sources to cast dynamic shadows. However, it appears that some objects did not cast shadows with it. Therefore, I kind of hope that fromsoftserve will mod Elden Ring to add dynamic shadows to all of its objects.
Speaking of Dark Souls 3, we also suggest checking out the following mods. Call Of the Abyss is an overhaul mod that adds new weapons, spells, items, and armors, whereas Dark Souls Archthrones is a Demon’s Souls-inspired mod. The Convergence adds over 150 spells, new bosses, and dozens of weapons. Additionally, Dark Souls 3 Born From the Ashes aims to make the game even harder. On the other hand, there is an Easy Mod for the game. And finally, you can download a very cool mod that allows you to play Dark Souls 3 in first-person mode.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
