Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Sephiroth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 4K Mod now overhauls over 3900 textures

Modder ‘Romi’ has released a new version of his amazing 4K Texture Pack for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. The pack is now 27GB in size, and overhauls over 3900 textures. Thus, it’s a must for everyone who currently plays it.

Even on Ultra Settings, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth has a lot of low-res textures. And that’s exactly what this mod aims to resolve. Right now, it upscales most of the non-4k nature textures. So, expect better textures for things like trees, cliffs, rocks, stones, ground, grass, flowers, and puddles.

I’ve been using this pack and I highly recommend downloading it. You can do so from this link. Its installation is also super easy. All you have to do is drop the files into the “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth\End\Content\Packs\~mods” folder.

Romi also suggests using these commands to improve the LODs MipMaps and Texture streaming. So, you might also need to add them to your Engine.INI file.

[SystemSettings]
r.Streaming.PoolSize=10000 (Adjust 80% your VRAM, try more if textures not loading in or less if you experience stutters)
r.Streaming.LimitPoolSizeToVRAM=0
r.Streaming.UseFixedPoolSize=1
r.Streaming.PrioritizeMeshLODRetention=1
r.Streaming.SkeletalMeshResidentLODBias=-1
r.Streaming.StaticMeshResidentLODBias=-1
r.Streaming.TextureResidentLODBias=-1
r.Streaming.UseAllMips=1
r.Streaming.UseMaterialData=1
r.Streaming.MaxTempMemoryAllowed=10000 (RAM based)
r.Streaming.PoolSizeForMeshes=4096

Speaking of FF7 Rebirth, I also suggest FF7RebirthFix. This mod lets you adjust the gameplay FOV, unlocks the framerate, and adds support for ultrawide or narrower displays. Its latest version also improves shadow cascades. Thus, you won’t see shadows constantly changing right in front of view.

Then we have this amazing first-person mod. This is another must-have mod for FF7 Rebirth. This mod lets you explore the world of the game in first-person mode. During fights, it switches back to a third-person viewpoint. As such, it feels like an official first-person exploration mode. It’s really cool, so be sure to download it from here.

Finally, you can read our PC Performance Analysis for this game. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth feels a bit better than FF7 Remake. While it also suffers from shader compilation stutters, it doesn’t appear to have any major traversal stutters. It also plays great with KB&M during exploration and fights. However, some of the mini-games are unplayable with it. Seriously, I challenge everyone to try playing the piano with KB&M. It’s unplayable. Menu navigation is also a bit weird as you can’t use the mouse. In short, although FF7 Rebirth is slightly better than FF7 Remake, it’s still nowhere close to what you’d expect from a PC game.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
