The UG team has just announced the cancelation of the GTA Underground project. GTA Underground was a mod that attempted to combine the San Andreas, Liberty City, Vice City, Manhunt I/II, Bullworth, and custom maps into one big map.
As the team noted:
“Due to the increasing hostility towards the modding community and imminent danger to our mental and financial well-being, we sadly announce that we are officially ceasing the development of GTA: Underground and will be shortly taking all official uploads offline.”
This obviously does not surprise us. Back in July, Take-Two took down this project (alongside some other mods for Vice City and San Andreas).
Now while this is the end of GTA Underground, the team is willing to create its own game. Whether this will come to fruition, though, remains to be seen.
My guess is that some other popular GTA mods will also follow GTA Underground’s fate. After all, Take-Two recently sued the creators of the reverse-engineered GTA 3/Vice City project, re3. So yeah, it appears that things are heating up.
Stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
