Modder ‘skurtyyskirts’ has just released an RTX Remix Mod for Lego Island 2 that adds full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing support. This mod will improve the game’s graphics, allowing PC gamers to re-experience it on current-gen hardware.
As the modder noted, Lego Island 2 RTX has been in development for quite some time now. This mod takes advantage of PBRify. PBRify can upscale textures, and add normal and roughness maps. This is a crucial tool for creating proper RTX Remix Mods.
Now the good news here is that Lego Island 2 RTX Remix does not suffer from the issues I mentioned in my previous article about the RTX Remix Mods for Half Life 2 E1 and E2. The game does not suffer from “plastic” looks. From what I can see, this is a great example of how RTX Remix Path Tracing can enhance the graphics of an old game.
Those interested can download the mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it. This trailer will give you an idea of what you can expect from it. So, be sure to watch it.
Skurtyyskirts has been working on numerous RTX Remix Mods. So, I really hope that he will use Lego Island 2 RTX Remix as an example for them. The modder is already working on an RTX Remix Mod for Splinter Cell. That mod currently has some issues, so I really hope to see them fixed. After all, Splinter Cell RTX is what A LOT of SC fans are looking forward to.
These past few months we’ve shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods for various games. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. In March 2024, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Finally, you can check out some early RTX Remix videos for Fallout: New Vegas, Half-Life and Splinter Cell.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for the first and the second NFS: Underground games. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
