Now here is a pleasant surprise. It appears that RenoDX was able to enable DLSS 5 in CONTROL. So, below you can find a video that shows off what DLSS 5 can do in Remedy’s game.
YouTube’s ‘gabdeg’ has tested the mod on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. On that PC system, CONTROL drops from 91FPS to 50FPS when you enable DLSS 5.
This proves what I’ve always believed. DLSS 5 is only for the high-end GPUs. At least for now. Owners of weaker GPUs may be able to use it at lower resolutions, like 1080p. However, on games that are already GPU-heavy, it will be difficult to maintain a smooth framerate. Unless of course you use DLSS Multi-Frame Gen.
In terms of visuals, DLSS 5 looks much more realistic than the vanilla game. In my opinion, rasterized games will benefit the most from it.
Rasterized games can have many visual issues, but they also tend to run very well, even at native 4K. Because of this, DLSS 5 can bring a huge visual boost while still keeping performance smooth.
Does it justify the huge performance hit? Well, we’ll have to test it for ourselves before we pass judgment. However, from what I see in the video, everything looks better.
Haters will obviously say that Jesse looks older with DLSS 5, or that she doesn’t look great. What’s funny here is that if a game looked like this without DLSS 5 or Path Tracing, those same people would be celebrating those visuals.
But how were modders able to activate DLSS 5? Well, yesterday, NBA 2K27 leaked the DLL files for DLSS 5. Apparently, NBA 2K27 will be a game that will also support DLSS 5. However, the devs have included the DLLs by mistake. As such, modders took those files, and they figured out a way to enable DLSS 5 in CONTROL.
For what it’s worth, this is an experimental version of RenoDX. The public version does not include this feature yet. Because of this, you cannot enable DLSS 5 in CONTROL on your PC right now. You will have to wait a little longer to try it.
NVIDIA plans to release DLSS 5 by the end of 2026. Right now, we don’t have an exact ETA on when it will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
From what we know so far, the first games that will support it are AION 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Black State, CINDER CITY, Delta Force, Hogwarts Legacy, Justice, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, NTE: Neverness to Everness, Resident Evil Requiem, Sea of Remnants, Starfield, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Where Winds Meet.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!
