The Multi Theft Auto team has released a brand new version of its online/multiplayer mod for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. As its name implies, Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas adds full online gaming support to Rockstar’s GTA San Andreas.
As the team has noted, this was the first open-source modification that adds a highly customizable network play element to a commercial closed-source single-player PC game.
“Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas provides online gaming for dozens of players running user-generated gameplay content and scripts through a Lua virtual machine, and is freely distributed under the GPLv3 license.”
Now I don’t know how long this mod will be online. After all, Take-Two has been shutting down numerous Vice City and San Andreas mods. GTA Underground, for instance, is no longer under development.
But anyway, Version 1.5.9 adds 49 new functions and 16 new events. Moreover, it fixes 77+ bugs.
You can download Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas from here. Below you can also find a video showcasing it.
Have fun!
