LukeRoss, the man behind the VR Mod for Grand Theft Auto 5, has released a VR Mod for Red Dead Redemption 2. This mod is currently in an Early Access phase and, unfortunately, it’s put behind a Patreon wall.
In order to make his R.E.A.L. VR Mod work with RDR2, LukeRoss had to create a whole new framework for VR injection. LukeRoss has been working full-time on this mod for the past six months, which is also why he put his mod behind the Patreon wall.
LukeRoss also hopes to be modding other AAA games with the same level of quality and attention. The modder is currently looking into modding Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn, Watch Dogs: Legion or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
As LukeRoss noted, R.E.A.L. VR supports – and should work correctly with – all major headsets currently on the market. It can render to the Oculus runtime, to SteamVR, and to OpenXR.
Now I don’t know when – and if – this VR mod will be made available to the public for free. Naturally, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the following video that showcases this VR Mod in action!
John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
