Modder ‘Hemry’ has released the first version of his RTX Remix Mod for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. This mod will add full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing to this classic construction and management simulation game.
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 originally came out in 2004. And, by today’s standards, it looks kind of average and flat. Thanks to this RTX Remix Mod, though, the game can be, once again, enjoyed by a lot of gamers.
NVIDIA’s Jacob Freeman shared the following screenshots, which showcase some of the game’s Path Tracing effects. As we can see, the game now has more realistic lighting. Moreover, everything seems more grounded on the terrain thanks to the advanced shadows.
Now while we don’t have any Before/After screenshots, you can take a look at this video to see what the vanilla version looks like. Although it has a different Time of Day, you can clearly see how simplistic the vanilla lighting system looks.
Needless to say, this first version of this RTX Remix Mod does not represent the quality of what the RTX Remix tools can achieve. From what I can see, the modder hasn’t replaced the game’s assets. What this means is that RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 RTX can look way better with proper PBR materials and higher-quality textures.
Anyway, those interested can download this RTX Remix Mod from this link.
These past few months we’ve been covering a lot of RTX Remix Mods. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Last month, we also shared videos for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas RTX Remix, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. Earlier this month, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. And yesterday, we shared a WIP video for Fallout: New Vegas with RTX.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for the first and the second NFS: Underground games. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, Half-Life and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
