Silent Hill fans, here is something special for you today. YouTube’s ‘ZealotTormunds’ has released an amazing mod for Silent Hill 4 that allows you to play it with a first-person or an over-the-should camera. This will completely change the way you played this old SH game. So, don’t sleep on it.
Do note that this mod is only compatible with the GOG version. So no, you won’t be able to use it with the original PC version that came out in 2004.
Once you’ve installed it, you’ll need to press the F1 key to open the mod menu. You should open the menu only while you’re in game, not during menus or cutscenes, otherwise there’s a chance the game will softlock.
The mod currently has a Third-Person Over-The-Should Camera and a First-Person Camera. There is also an experimental FPS uncap setting. However, this setting may result in crashes. There is also a setting that allows you to hide the HUD.
In future versions, the modder plans to increase the camera sensitivity limit to 900, and fix the fog so that it will be set to “normal” after forcing a preset. Moreover, ZealotTormunds will implement a very cheap way to change the hotkey for the menu.
All in all, this is a very cool mod that all SH4 fans must download. You can do so via this link. Make also sure to read its installation guide.
I also suggest taking a look at similar first-person mods for some other triple-A games. Both Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and Ghost Recon Wildlands now have cool body-cam first-person mods. Then we have these FPS mods for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. The classic Max Payne 2 also got a first-person mod. And yes, you can also play Hogwarts Legacy, Palworld, Elden Ring, Dark Souls 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, The Witcher 3, Lies of P, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain in first-person. For those wondering, there are similar mods for Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Plus, if you’re playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on PC, you can also use this first-person mod. Finally, there is still no word on when the FPS mod for The Last of Us Part I will come out.
Have fun!
