Modder ‘ScoutBr0’ has released a cool new mod for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen. This mod makes the fires bounce around the environment more and fill the dark gaps. To achieve that, the modder took advantage of Ray Tracing Global Illumination, and the results are superb.
By using this mod, you can eliminate or reduce the “point light” effect where you can clearly see the placed lights in the environment. Now the dark areas should feel filled with light and a lot more traversable and cozy. In theory, the game will now look more realistic.
You can download the mod from this link. You can also find below some comparison screenshots. The vanilla screenshots are on the left, whereas the modded screenshots are on the right. These comparisons will give you an idea of what you can expect from this mod. In my opinion, the modded screenshots look better.
What’s also interesting here is that, according to the modder, this mod will not bring any additional performance hit. However, since it uses Ray Tracing, it’s only compatible with the Next-Gen Update. And yes, you must have RT enabled, otherwise the mod won’t work. Not only that but the mod is completely fire and lighting mod agnostic. This means that it should work with every lighting mod and every fire mod out there.
Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at these other mods for it. For instance, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Yesterday, we shared a must-have gameplay overhaul mod. Let’s also not forget this mod that lets you kill most in-game NPCs. In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content that was cut from all previous The Witcher games. Then we have the Witcher 3 Next-Gen Combat Redux Mod. You can also download the first version of the NextGen HD Reworked Project. Lastly, we have 8K Texture Packs for Ciri, Triss Merigold, Geralt and Yennefer.
Have fun!
