Modder ‘ParallaxTiger’ has released an AI-upscaled 4K Texture Pack for Unreal Tournament 3. This pack is around 7GB in size, and will enhance almost all of the game’s textures. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
The mod pack improves many parts of the game. It updates items, power-ups, environments, skies, decals, particle effects, weapons, and character portraits. It also enhances the screens for selecting maps and game types. Most characters have better textures now. For example, players will see improved textures on first-person arms and hands for all races. Character gore, skeletons (human and Krall), and Corrupt shrapnel also look better.
Now I don’t know if many of you still play UT3. However, if you plan to ever play it, I suggest using this 4K Texture Pack. You can go ahead and download it from this link. Below you can also find some screenshots from it. These screenshots show off some of the enhanced textures. Sadly, though, we don’t have any before/after comparison shots.
Speaking of AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs, we also suggest taking a look at these for some other games. In October 2023, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and Half-Life 2 got two cool AI-enhanced HD Texture Packs. Earlier this week, we also shared AI-upscaled packs for Grim Fandango Remastered and BioShock Remastered. Let’s also not forget these AI-enhanced mods for Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. You can also find packs for Far Cry 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Blood 2, Dark Souls 2, FEAR, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and Resident Evil 7.
Unreal and Unreal Tournament were two of my favorite games back in the 90s/00s. And while I still enjoyed UT3, it never felt like a successful successor to Unreal Tournament 2004. Epic Games was planning a while ago to revive this franchise. A small team was working on a new F2P Unreal Tournament game. That game would be using Unreal Engine 5, and it would be mostly community-driven. However, the success of Fortnite put an end to its development.
Sadly, Epic Games has delisted Unreal Tournament 3 on Steam and its own store. So, there is currently no way to buy a digital copy of it. The only way to play it is if you already own it. Or if you find and buy a physical copy. Or if you venture into the pirate seas.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
