In October 2021, we informed you about a VR mod that would be supporting almost all RE Engine-powered games. And today, we are happy to report that the first version of this VR mod is available for download.
Created by praydog, this VR mod adds generic 6DOF VR support to RE7, RE2, RE3, RE8, DMC5, and MHRISE. Moreover, this first version brings full motion controls in RE2 and RE3 (when using FirstPerson mode). Additionally, it adds physical knife damage in RE2/RE3, as well as physical grenade throwing in RE2/RE3.
From the looks of it, this VR mod currently works best with Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake. RE7 and RE Village work, however, there are some issues. For instance, RE7 has no motion controls at the moment, and RE8’s motion controls are in an experimental and incomplete state. Furthermore, there is no full body IK yet like RE2/RE3. Not only that, but the audio positioning will not match up with your HMD rotation, and you cannot aim with your head yet.
Lastly, Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter Rise have the same issue of audio positioning described above. Moreover, DMC5 has some issues with some incorrect UI elements.
I’m pretty sure that owners of these games will find this VR mod cool, so go ahead and download it from here.
Have fun!
