Now here is a really cool mod for Helldivers 2. ToastedShoes has shared this mod that allows you to play as Master Chief from the Halo series.
As you may have guessed, this is a simple character swap mod. In other words, it does not bring any of Master Chief’s abilities or weapons. Still, this is something cool, and we know that a lot of Helldivers 2 fans will find it interesting.
Let’s also not forget that Helldivers 2 is a sci-fi game. So, in a way, it feels natural to have Master Chief battle the game’s aliens. OK OK, these are not the Covenant. Still, it doesn’t feel out of place.
Alongside this Halo Mod, ToastedShoes has also shared a mod that allows you to play as a Clone Trooper from Star Wars.
Going into more details, these cosmetic mods leverage a patching system built into the engine utilized by Helldivers 2 to patch what modders want. Each patch has a number determining its load order, starting from 0. As of writing, all cosmetic mods have utilized the same patch number of patch 0. If you would like to use multiple mods together that do not conflict by way of their actual contents (such as both Master Chief and Clone Trooper replacing the same B-01 Tactical armor set), it’s as simple as renaming each mod’s three files to have your desired order, such as patch_1, patch_2, etc.
You can download the Halo and Star Wars mods from here and here, respectively.
Finally, here is a video that showcases these mods in action. In this video, we also get to see some other cosmetic mods for Helldivers 2. From what we know, these other mods aren’t yet available for free. So no, you won’t be able to play as Buzz Lightyear or the Mandalorian. At least not yet.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
