Futuremark has released a new trailer for its upcoming benchmark tool, 3D Mark. Fire Strike is the company’s new showcase DirectX 11 benchmark designed for high-performance gaming PCs. As described, Fire Strike is their most ambitious and technical benchmark ever, featuring real-time graphics rendered with detail and complexity far beyond what you can find in other benchmarks and games today.
The 3DMark Fire Strike trailer shows a short segment taken from the Fire Strike demo using the Extreme preset and rendered natively at 2560×1440 resolution.
Some of the techniques used include tessellation, dynamic particle illumination and shadowing, smoke simulation using grid-based fluid dynamics, volume ray casting with shadows and a wide variety of post processing effects including depth of field, blooms, distortions and various lens effects.
3D Mark is planned for release by the end of this year.
Enjoy!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
