In an interview with CGM, Versus Evil’s general manager Steve Escalante revealed that the game has been pulled from Steam. Versus Evil is offering refunds for Volume 1, and has cancelled Volume 2 & 3. Do note that this applies to all versions of the game (both PC and console). The reason behind this decision? Gamers – both on PC and PS4 – simply did not like the game and as a result of that, it is now considered from Versus Evil as a commercial failure.
As Steve Escalante told CGM:
“The game was a failure. We could not do, in good conscience, Volume 2 and Volume 3. So we’ve begun the process, it’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we’re returning all the money. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying ‘sorry about this’.”
The first Volume of Afro Samurai 2 was released on Steam this September, and Versus Evil originally planned to release two more Volumes afterwards.
Steve concluded:
“We’re Versus Evil; a company perspective, from a partnership perspective and now we have to do it from a consumer perspective. So we pulled it down, because we didn’t want to exacerbate it anymore and then we’re refunding the money.”

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
