As we’ve informed you earlier last week, we’re expecting Alan Wake’s PC FAQ this week and although it hasn’t been released yet, Remedy’s Markus has ‘unofficially’ revealed the minimum GPU requirements of the game. According to Markus, Alan Wake PC will require at least an AMD 2900XT/3800 or an Nvidia 8600GT GPU for low settings and a 1024×768 resolution.
Ironically, although Alan Wake’s features a DX9 engine, the game will require a DX10 card. Markus stated that the game hasn’t run acceptably on any single DX9-only GPU and that’s why they’ll have to ‘rule out all DX9 SM3.0 cards‘. Before jumping to early conclusions, this does not mean that the game won’t support the DX9 API.
Therefore, the minimum unofficial GPU requirements are the following:
From ATI: R 3650 / R 4450 / R 5550 / R 6450
From NVIDIA: 8600GT / 9500GT / GT120 / GT430 / GT520
Alan Wake PC is slated for a Q1 2012 release!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
