God bless modders. Up until now, PC gamers were able to choose between SMAA and downsampling in order to eliminate Alien: Isolation’s jaggies. However, Reddit’s member ‘aliasIsolation’ has released a mod for Alien: Isolation that adds support for Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA).
TAA is technique that has been used in a lot of games recently and does an amazing job at eliminating jaggies. TAA basically blends multiple frames together using a content-aware filter, and aliasIsolation’s mod implements an algorithm similar to the one found in Unreal Engine 4, Uncharted 4, and Inside.
The only downside of TAA is that, unlike SMAA, it blurs the image, which is why strongly suggest using Reshade in order to sharpen it.

And here is a comparison between SMAA (left) and TAA (right).

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
