Now this is really impressive. Cary Walkin has informed us about his new RPG that is being made entirely in Microsoft’s Excel. Yeap, you read that right. An RPG made entirely in Excel. Cary’s goal was to take something used commonly for work and turn it into a game that is genuinely fun. And ironically, it’s pretty cool. This is a freeware title, so make sure to at least give it a go.
Arena.Xlsm features:
-Random enemies: Over 2000 possible enemies with different AI abilities.
-Random items: 39 item modifiers result in over 1000 possible item combinations and attributes.
-An interesting story with 4 different endings depending on how the player has played the game.
-8 boss encounters, each with their own tactics.
-4 pre-programmed arenas followed by procedurally generated arenas. Each play-through has its own challenges.
-31 Spells. There are many different strategies for success.
-20 Unique items. Unique items have special properties and can only drop from specific enemies.
-37 Achievements.
According to Cary, Arena.Xlsm works with the PC versions of Microsoft Excel including Excel 2007, Excel 2010 and Excel 2013. Unfortunately, the game is not working on Mac versions of Microsoft Excel.
Those interested can download the game from its official website.
Have fun everyone!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
