And it’s time to celebrate. Dean Hall, DayZ’s creator, has just announced that his amazing zombie mod has surpassed over 500K players. This basically means that DayZ has outsold the game it’s required to run on. Quite an achievement, right? And we bet that Bohemia is fine with it – and actually really happy – as the game is selling well on Steam.
In other news, Hall wishes for DayZ to become a standalone game, perhaps as a free-to-play title. And as you’d expect, the modder has recently released a new patch for the game that introduces a new Player Syncing system and offers the ability to set Bear Traps that break player and infected legs – or kill animals – when activated.
Last but not least, here is the first episode of DayZ: Mythbusters, a video-series that looks into various myths regarding Hall’s creation.
John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
