During its 25th Anniversary Concert, Bohemia Interactive revealed its plans to release Arma 4 in 2027. Arma 4 has been in active development since 2022, meaning that it will take five years to create it. Well, assuming it’s not delayed.
Sadly, there is nothing more to add at this point. Still, this will please a lot of Arma fans.
In November 2023, Bohemia fully released Arma Reforger. In this Arma game, you are part of the battle across two islands, covering a whopping 61 kmĀ², all set in an authentic Cold War backdrop. You can also dive into the Conflict multiplayer mode for some intense battles, or flex your creative muscles in Game Master.
Game Master is a real-time editor where you can control everything that happens in the game. You can also explore the new Arland terrain and return to Everon, a small island from Arma: Cold War Assault, the game that started the whole series.
Arma Reforger has not won the Arma 3 fans. Or at least that’s my take after looking at their all-time peak player numbers. Arma Reforger had 12K concurrent players, whereas Arma 3 had 50K concurrent players.
One of the biggest features of Arma 3, at least in my opinion, was its incredible graphics. When it came out, Arma 3 was among the best-looking PC games. And I believe Bohemia should invest some extra time in order to make Arma 4 look like a next-gen title.
Since the game won’t come out anytime soon, it is safe to assume that Arma 4 will have better graphics than current-gen titles. At least I hope so. Plus, Bohemia should double down on the game’s tactical nature. Also, a simple single-player campaign would do wonders for it.
Now I’m not saying the devs should add a “COD” campaign. After all, Arma 3 had a very simple SP mode. So no, I’m not suggesting a “bombastic” campaign with lots of cutscenes. Still, a simple campaign mode will be a welcome addition.
Stay tuned for more!
