BasketDudes awarded “Best Online Game” at Gamelab 2011 Event

Great news for BITOON Games as BasketDudes, their first MMO and Free2Play game developed, won the “Best Online Videogame for PC” award at the 7th Annual Gamelab Videogame Industry Awards. BasketDudes, who was also nominated for the ‘Best Game’, ‘Best Game Design’ and ‘Best Art Direction’, was awarded as the ‘Best Online Videogame’, competing in most of the categories with big titles such as ‘Castlevania: Lords of Shadow’.

In a funny and competitive ceremony hosted by the humorist Jose Corbacho and celebrated in the Sala Arteria Paral-lel in Barcelona, the best of the current Spanish videogames industry got together to celebrate and recognize the most interesting projects of the last year.

Gamelab 2011 brought to the Expo and Ceremony Awards significant guests as Peter Molyneux (International Award for his 25-year career), Hideo Kojima (Honorary Award for his career), Trip Hawkins (Digital Chocolate), Daniel Kaplan (Minecraft), and Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War) who also had the chance to enjoy playing a match with BasketDudes’ team.

BasketDudes  obtained this recognition just 15 days from the official release of its open version, after being in Closed Beta for 5 months. BasketDudes is currently available in Spanish and English (for both PC and MAC) and allows users from all over the world to compete online in real time. With a wide range of game mechanics, BasketDudes combines 3D action sports gameplay, reminiscent of instant arcade classics, with enriching strategic components found in trading card games, as well as virtual items to improve gameplay. This combination, together with its cared 3D visual style and the original RPG features related to its characters’ level-up and customization possibilities, has made BasketDudes  becoming a key reference in the Spanish videogame industry as a Free2Play game, just on its very first days of life.
