It appears that EA’s German Facebook page has revealed something that was not meant to. According to a tab – that has already been fixed – Battlefield 4 is supposedly coming on October 31st on PC, X360 and PS3. This is rumored to be the European launch date, however EA was quick to react and issued a statement on its German Facebook page.
According to the statement, that date was merely a placeholder and nothing more.
“We were contacted today about the release date of Battlefield 4, which could be seen on one of the tabs in this page. That one was merely a placeholder date, which was published by a technical defect. We apologize for this error. The correct release date will be avaialble on the official Battlefield site.”
Naturally, this release date could be the real deal. Perhaps EA is not ready to unveil it yet? Or was that a placeholder date as the publisher claims?
It wouldn’t surprise us to see the game releasing in late October, as most hints indicate towards that. Moreover, BF3 was released on Thursday in Germany (October 31st is a Thursday), so history could repeat itself.
For now, though, we’ll take EA’s word on this.
