Bethesda has announced that a demo for PREY will be released on April 27th. However, this demo will be exclusive to consoles. Yeap, no PC demo for PREY. In other words, no; you won’t be able to see for yourselves how the game runs on your PC configuration.
Our guess is that Bethesda is not releasing a PC demo prior to the game’s launch in order to protect the final version from all the cracking groups. Bethesda will most probably use the latest version of Denuvo in PREY. As such, a PC demo may give crackers a head start.
On the other hand, Bethesda is shooting itself in the foot as PC gamers will definitely avoid pre-ordering its title. This will also have a negative effect on day-one sales. Because, let’s face it; Arkane’s latest title, Dishonored 2, had – and still has – major performance issues on the PC.
Yes, the team claimed that PREY, which is powered by CRYENGINE, will not suffer from the same performance issues that plagued Dishonored 2. However, the fact that there won’t be a demo for PC gamers to at least test the game, does not bear well.
PREY is currently planned for a May 5th release!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
