Back in April, we said that Black Mesa Source would be released this Summer. Well, guess what everyone. The Black Mesa team has just announced that the game will be coming on September 14th. Yeah, Black Mesa: Source has a release date and is almost two weeks away from us. And do we have to remind you that Summer ends – typically – at September 22nd? So yes, Black Mesa: Source is coming this Summer and you were the first to know about it.
As we said back in April:
“So, if – hypothetically – the soundtrack gets released next week, we should expect Black Mesa to hit the Net in mid-May. Given the fact that there will definitely be a small delay to it, we can pretty much say that a Summer release looks very likely.”
According to the team behind Black Mesa: Source, this first release will include its re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. Although the team is still working hard on Xen and BMDM, they decided to release the mod without those areas. Truth be told, Xen was a completely, out-of-place environment for Half-Life, therefore we don’t mind with that decision. The team has also promised to expand the Xen levels and will try to address some of its issues.
Enjoy!
