Blizzard has just announced official remasters for the first two Warcraft games. These remasters are included in Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest, which is now available for purchase. So yes, this is a shadow drop that caught pretty much everyone by surprise.
Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest includes Warcraft I: Remastered, Warcraft II: Remastered and Warcraft III: Reforged. Alongside the remasters, Blizzard has also included the original versions of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition.
It’s also worth noting that Blizzard released a new major update for Warcraft 3: Reforged. Patch 2.0 includes updated Classic HD assets and improved Reforged environment visuals. Moreover, players will be able to customize their army to play with the visuals they prefer.
To celebrate this announcement, the team has also shared a trailer for this collection. This trailer shows some comparison scenes for the first two Warcraft games. It also shows some of the visual improvements that Update 2.0 brings to Warcraft 3: Reforged.
Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest will cost you $39,99. From what I could see, there is no way to purchase the remasters separately. That’s kind of a bummer. [UPDATE: It appears you can purchase them separately, so my bad]. On the other hand, for a package with two remasters (three if you don’t already own Reforged), it’s a fair price.
Finally, it appears that Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest is for now exclusive to Battle.net. So, no Steam release for all our Warcraft fans. It sucks but hey, it is what it is.
Enjoy!
