2K Games and Gearbox have announced that Borderlands 3 is currently free to play on Steam. From today and until August 12th, PC gamers can visit the game’s Steam store page, download it, and play it.
Borderlands 3 came out first on the PC via Epic Games Store. Thankfully, though, the game supports cross-play between Steam and Epic Games Store. Additionally, both the Steam and EGS versions have the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.
Earlier this week, Take Two stated that the game has passed its 10 million goal, selling 10.5 million units on all platforms. Borderlands 3 also had a successful launch, with concurrent players twice as high as Borderlands 2’s all-time peak.
It’s also worth noting that 2K Games is offering Borderlands 3 on Steam with a 50% discount during its free to play weekend. That means that you can get it for $29.99.
For Borderlands 3, Gearbox partnered with AMD. As such, this was one of the first games that supported AMD’s FidelityFX tech. However, the game had optimization issues at launch.
Have fun!
