It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Brutal Doom. And to be honest, I’d love to see all classic 2D shooters receive the Brutal treatment that id Software’s iconic shooter currently enjoys. So, today I’m excited to report that an alpha version of Brutal Duke Nukem 3D is available for download.
Created by Duke4’s member ‘RPD Guy‘ – and obviously inspired by Sergeant_Mark_IV’s Brutal mod for Doom – this mod increases the blood effects. (Floor, wall and ceiling decals, bloodspray effects, jibs, shells, actors and some sound effects). As the modder noted, all the effects were created by himself and he re-used many sprites from the game and from other games.
In addition, the mod also features two new deaths animations for troops. To trigger one of them, players will just have to kill one of them with a Shotgun when they are closer to them or kick them in the face when they are in a “suffering state”.
Those interested can download the mod from here. Below you can also find some screenshots from Brutal Duke Nukem 3D.

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
