Aleph One Developers has announced that it will release soon its PC port of Bungie’s classic sci-fi FPS, Marathon, on Steam. The game will be available on Steam, and its page is already up so that players can wishlist it.
Classic Marathon is powered by the Aleph One engine, which is available under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 3. According to the Steam page, the Marathon trilogy game data will be distributed with permission from Bungie. So, my guess is that this will be a free game.
The PC version will have optional widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation. In short, it will be the best way to play this classic FPS.
Now I should note that Marathon is a story-driven single-player game. Apart from its name, it has nothing in common with the Extraction shooter that Bungie is currently working on. So, don’t expect anything like that or Destiny 2. This is a classic single-player FPS.
There is currently no ETA on when Classic Marathon will come out on Steam. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. If you can’t wait until then, you can go ahead and download it from Aleph Ones’ website.
Finally, I’ve included a gameplay video below from it. This video shows off the first chapter. So, make sure to watch it if you are not familiar with this game.
Enjoy stay tuned for more!
