David Szymanski is currently working on Butcher’s Creek, a visceral first-person action/horror game, inspired by Manhunt and Condemned.
Butcher’s Creek will focus on melee combat, allowing players to use hammers, axes, pipes, 2x4s, box cutters, and more to brutalize anything that stands between them and freedom.
Players will photograph gruesome murder scenes to fulfill their dark pseudo-sexual desires and regain lost health. Additionally, players will explore decaying farmhouses, collapsing factories, and seedy strip clubs in a forgotten corner of the Appalachian Forest.
For those unaware, Szymanski was the man behind DUSK. DUSK was a retro first-person shooter inspired by Quake, Blood & Hexen. The game came out on Steam in 2018 and has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews. So yeah, there is a reason to be excited by Butcher’s Creek.
Unfortunately, Szymanski has not shared any gameplay trailer for his new game. The only thing we’ve got so far is the following screenshots and a possible “2024” release date for it.
Anyway, enjoy these first screenshots, and stay tuned for more!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
