It appears that 2018 is the year of battle-royale (which is something we’ve expected after the incredible success of both Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds). And according to the latest rumours, both Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and Battlefield 2018 (codenamed Battlefield V) may feature such a mode.
Let’s start with Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Polygon reported that this new COD title may not feature any single-player campaign. Instead, Treyarch will focus on the game’s multiplayer and Zombie modes. And if this turns out to be true, I’ll be really upset because I kind of enjoyed those mind-less single-player campaigns. Furthermore, Eurogamer reported that Raven may be working on a battle-royale mode for Black Ops 4.
On the other hand, VentureBeat reported that DICE is experimenting with a battle-royale mode and may add in new Battlefield game. However, and contrary to Black Ops 4, Battlefield 5 will retain its single-player campaign. Moreover, this battle-royale will most likely not be available at launch and may be added after the game’s release via a free content update.
These battle-royale modes have not been confirmed by Activision or Electronic Arts, so take them with a grain of salt!
