The open beta phase for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode, Blackout, has begun on PS4 and while the game was initially supporting 80 players, that number jumped to 88 after yesterday’s patch. Yeap, in just a day the game’s player count has been risen so it will be interesting to see whether Blackout will support up to 100 players like other battle royale titles do.
The first beta patch also changes Featured Playlist to DUOs, packs general stability and stat-tracking improvements, reduces duration of Sensor Dart to 2 minutes, increases the speed of picking up Items off of the ground and automatically closes quick equip menu if it is not used for 5 seconds.
Naturally, these improvements will be available from the get-go on the PC when its open beta phase begins this Friday (for those that have pre-ordered the game. The beta will open to everyone this Saturday).
Contrary to Battlefield 5, the battle royale mode for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will be available at launch day. And from the looks of it, Activision and Treyarch will rely heavily on this mode (as the game will not feature any single-player campaign mode).
Stay tuned for more!
