Activision has announced that Call of Duty Warzone has surpassed 100 million players on all platforms. COD Warzone came out in Marc 2020, so it took almost one year for Infinity Ward and Raven to hit that milestone.
Call of Duty Warzone is a free to play battle royale game. The game supports up to 150 players who squad up with friends and fight.
In this game, players can collect in-match Cash to purchase equipment, Field Upgrades, Killstreaks or Revive Tokens for fallen teammates at Buy Stations located throughout the map to help turn the tide of war. Squads can choose to take on Contracts. These are optional in-match mini-missions that payout in epic in-match rewards upon completion. By completing them, players can get rare loot, in-match Cash, XP, and Weapon XP.
Call of Duty: Warzone supports crossplay and features unified progression across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. For players that already own the full version of Modern Warfare, all content already earned including Battle Pass items, Operators, weapons and customization items will carry over to Warzone. Additionally, all progression earned in Warzone will count towards overall Modern Warfare progression.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that the game’s previous player record was back in August 2020. In August 2020, Activision announced that Warzone surpassed 75 million players.
