Castlevania and NES/8-bit retro fans, here is something special for you today. Lv.4 Games has released a reworked version of the classic Castlevania that came out on NES in 1987. Castlevania Revamped adds some metroidvania elements to the game, and packs a number of QoL improvements. And yes, it’s available for free on PC.
Since Castlevania never found its way to the PC, this is a must for all PC retro gamers. So, waste no time and download it from this link. And, since this is a free game based on a Konami IP, we recommend getting it right away. For all we know, Konami may one day take it down.
Speaking of Castlevania, we’ve got three more awesome free games for you to check out. First up is Castlevania The Lecarde Chronicles 2, a cool 2D fan game you can download. Then we have a 16-bit remake of Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest. And finally, you can download a fan remake of Castlevania in Unreal Engine 4. They are super cool, and we highly recommend giving them a try.
From what I’ve seen, all of these Castlevania free games are still available for download. Still, Konami may one day follow Nintendo’s example. Nintendo has shut down a number of free projects based on its IPs. For instance, in December 2023, the big “N” shut down The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX. Surprisingly enough, the free 3D remake of The Legend of Zelda NES in Unreal Engine 4 is still available for download. And yes, CryZENx’s Zelda remakes in UE5 are still up for download.
Anyway, this is a cool rework of the NES game, so be sure to at least watch its announcement trailer.
