Microsoft and Rare have announced that the open beta phase for Sea of Thieves will begin on January 29th. The Closed Beta will be accessible to eligible players who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme before December 1st 2017 or who have pre-ordered the game and will last until January 29th.
According to Microsoft, Rare has crafted a bespoke experience for Closed Beta players that offers a true taste of the pirate life. This Closed Beta will give testers a taste of what they can expect from the game’s full version.
In case you weren’t aware of, Sea of Thieves is a pirate-themed action-adventure cooperative multiplayer game played from a first-person perspective. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4, features amazing water physics and will support cross-play between Xbox One and PC.
In Sea of Thieves, a group of players travel and explore an open world via a pirate ship and assume different roles such as steering, hoisting sails, navigation, firing cannons and other tasks. Players will embark on quests, collect loot and engage in combat with other players.
The game will release on March 20th!
