Dragon's Dogma 2 feature-3

Confirmed, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will run with 60fps only on PC

In February 2023, we informed you about the possibility of Dragon’s Dogma 2 running with 60fps only on PC. And it appears we were right. According to Capcom’s Hideaki Itsuno, the PC version is the only one that will be able to run at native 4K with 60fps.

As Itsuno told RGJ, the console version will have an uncapped frame rate performance of around 30 FPS or above. This means that the console version should be somewhere between 20-40fps. What’s interesting here is that there won’t be a capped 30fps mode. Instead, the framerate will fluctuate like crazy on consoles.

My guess is that Capcom decided on this uncapped framerate so that it can also take advantage of the additional power of PS5 Pro. Still, given the performance figures we’ve heard, it’s unlikely that the PS5 Pro will be able to hit constant 60fps. For this to happen, PS5 Pro must be 2X more powerful than PS5. However, I don’t believe PS5 Pro will be THAT more powerful than the base PS5 version.

Regardless of that, the PC version will also have an uncapped framerate. However, the game will run with 60fps if your PC system is powerful enough. Thus, we can’t wait to benchmark this upcoming title.

Back in November 2023, Capcom shared the game’s official PC requirements. These PC specs seemed a bit high, which may explain why the console versions are at 30fps. For gaming at 2160i/30fps, Capcom recommended an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6700. Plus, these requirements were for the non-RT version of the game.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is coming to PC on March 22nd. Thankfully, the game will support DLSS 3 Frame Generation at launch. Thus, owners of the RTX40 series GPUs will be able to improve performance so that they can get framerates higher than 60fps.

Finally, as we’ve already reported, the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech!
