Unreal Engine 5.3 Cyber Streets Tech Demo

Cyberpunk/Blade Runner-inspired Unreal Engine 5.5.4 Tech Demo Gets Support for Lumen, Ray Tracing Ambient Occlusion, Ray Tracing Reflections and Ray Tracing Shadows

In March 2025, we informed you about an amazing UE5 Tech Demo that was heavily inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, Blade Runner and the Samaritan UE3 Tech Demo. And today, I’m happy to report that the demo was updated with support for Lumen and Ray Tracing.

Pasquale Scionti has used Ray Tracing to enhance the demo’s shadows, reflections and ambient occlusion. As such, this version of the demo is more demanding than its non-RT version.

I’ve tried the tech demo on my main PC gaming system. This system is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 572.83 driver.

At Native 4K on Epic Settings, the demo ran with a minimum of 35FPS. Without Ray Tracing, the tech demo could drop to 70FPS on the very same PC system. So, we’re basically looking at a 50% performance hit due to the new RT effects.

At Native 1440p/Epic Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 can offer a smooth experience. However, there were some drops to 57FPS in the more demanding areas. As for Native 1080p/Epic Settings, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 had no trouble at all pushing framerates over 70FPS.

Sadly, the tech demo does not support NVIDIA DLSS 3 or 4. That’s a bummer as it would greatly benefit from it. Not only would it look better (as DLSS 4 Transformer Model can offer a better image than TAA), but it would also run faster.

The good news here is that the tech demo does no longer suffer from the visual shortcoming of the non-RT version. For instance, reflections are now more accurate and stable. AO and shadows also look a bit better. So yeah, while this RT version runs worse, it also looks better.

You can download the RT version of the tech demo from this link. You can also get its non-RT version from this link.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5 or this free Attack on Titan game. And then we have the Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake in UE5. Plus, there is an amazing fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2, called Sonic Adventure 2 Redux.

Owners of high-end GPUs can also try these two tech demos. The first one features a Witcher-like environment. The second shows off a Rome Italian Town. Last month, we also shared a demo of King’s Field 2 in UE5. Finally, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5, a remake of Flappy Bird, a demo for Need for Speed: Underground 2, and a Diablo 2 Remake Demo. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
