Dark Mass is a new first-person underwater horror game

Path Games has announced a new first-person underwater horror game that will be using Unreal Engine 5, called Dark Mass. To celebrate this announcement, the devs have also shared the game’s debut trailer which you can find below.

Dark Mass is a first-person psychological horror game that promises to immerse you in the eerie silence of the deep ocean, where time stands still and forgotten horrors await. Players will assume the role of Alice, a deep-sea explorer who, alongside her brother Reed, discovers the remains of a shipwreck unearthed after an earthquake.

Since the game is set entirely underwater, the devs aim to take advantage of vertical exploration and environmental physics. As they noted, these will add new layers of tension.

Players will solve unique, unsettling challenges based on inquisitorial tortures to unveil the mansion’s mysteries. Plus, they’ll have to avoid and overcome a monstrous entity with a tragic past, trapped within the manor for centuries. Moreover, Path Games claims that your actions will matter. Your choices will influence how Alice’s story unfolds and concludes.

Although there is no specific ETA for when the game will come out, Path Games shared its PC system requirements. So, let’s take a look at them.

To run the game, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580. The devs recommend using an Intel: Core i5-12400 or AMD: Ryzen 5 5600 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.
