Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have restored the online features for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. Bandai Namco originally took the servers down in February 2022. So basically, it took FromSoftware around eight months in order to restore the game’s online functionalities.
In August 2022, FromSoftware restored the online features for Dark Souls 3. FromSoftware has not provided any update on when the online features for the first Dark Souls game will go live.
For those unaware, earlier this year gamers discovered that you could execute malicious code through Dark Souls 3’s online functionality. And once this story went viral, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware took the servers down.
Lastly, these security issues did not affect FromSoftware’s latest game, Elden Ring.
