Modder ‘Trivia Vanille’ is currently working on a graphics mod for Dark Souls 3 that aims to remaster its lighting. This mod is based on the upcoming DS3 LightingEngine mod. And below, you can find some screenshots from it.
In case you didn’t know, Ganaboy is working on a version of his Dark Souls 2 Lighting Engine Mod for Dark Souls 3. This mod aims to bring major lighting improvements to the game. My guess is that it will also add support for NVIDIA’s DLSS and DLAA. After all, DS2LE already supports them.
In these screenshots, Vanille showcased some new graphics effects that will come to DS3. PC gamers can now enjoy regenerated cubemaps, SSR, SSS and GTAO.
At the end of the article, you can find some before/after comparison screenshots. These will give you a better idea of the graphical improvements that this mod will bring to the table. The vanilla screenshots are on the left, whereas the modded ones are on the right. So, be sure to check them out.
One of the big differences is the color palette. The modded version of Dark Souls 3 looks richer and more vibrant. It also feels more natural. For instance, the fake light behind the main character has been removed. However, I can also spot some artistic differences between them. So, it will be kind of a mixed bag for some.
Now I know that some DS3 purists will not like these changes. However, you should keep in mind that this is just a mod. So, in my opinion, it’s good to offer an alternative look to the game. And hey, if you don’t like it, you won’t be forced to use it. You can simply skip it. That’s the beauty of mods.
For those interested in it, there is currently no ETA on when the mod will come out. Naturally, though, I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Speaking of Dark Souls 3, we also suggest checking out these other mods for it. For instance, you can download Call Of the Abyss which adds new weapons, spells, items, and armors. Then we have The Convergence which adds over 150 spells, new bosses, and dozens of weapons. Additionally, Dark Souls 3 Born From the Ashes aims to make the game even harder. Let’s also not forget Dark Souls: Archthrones. Dark Souls: Archthrones is a Demon’s Souls-inspired mod, and there is a demo you can download its demo. For those looking for a less challenging experience, there is now an Easy Mod that you can download.
Now if you want to improve the game’s graphics, you can try the following mods. There is a 24GB HD Texture Pack that improves the quality of all textures. Then there is this cool mod that allows you to play Dark Souls 3 in first-person mode. And let’s also not forget this mod that adds dynamic shadows to almost every object.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
