Remember Project Relic? You know, the Dark Souls-inspired game that had some amazing destruction/physics effects? Well, Project Cloud Games has renamed it to The Relic – The First Guardian, and shared a new gameplay trailer for it.
In this action RPG, players will embark on a heroic adventure to save the world in the dark as the last guardian. Players will start their journey as a guardian, gather pieces of great relic and close the void.
The Relic – The First Guardian will offer a variety of weapons. And, as with all Souls-inspired games, it will stamina and dodge mechanics. You will also be able to deflect enemy attacks, which will allow you to unleash combos on your enemies.
From the looks of it, this could be one of the good Dark Souls clones. Or at least that’s the vibe I got from its 6-minute trailer. Since the story appears to be an afterthought, I just hope the team won’t make its bosses ridiculously difficult. The environments, gameplay loop, and progression will be the main focus points here. The fact that it will also have cool destruction/physics effects is a big bonus to it. These days, the environments in most games feel “static“.
Sadly, there is still no ETA on when The Relic – The First Guardian will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy!
