Bohemia has announced that DayZ has just entered its beta phase. DayZ came to Steam via its Early Access program on December 16th, 2013, and it took Bohemia almost five years in order to hit its beta stage.
As Bohemia stated, the DayZ BETA shifts its focus from introducing new features and content to bug fixing, stabilization and balancing. The goal is to create a stable and – most importantly – fun experience for the 1.0 release which is scheduled for the end of 2018.
DayZ Beta features major engine changes, improvements to game and network performance, introduction of base building, massively improved implementation of vehicles, more elaborate AI for infected and animals, major map rework to make Chernarus more beautiful and detailed, the ability to run your own servers and modding support.
Alongside this huge announcement, Bohemia has also released the modding tools for DayZ Beta. These tools provide some solid basic functionalities for modders, including Workbench, Central Economy Editor, Publisher, Addon Builder, Terrain Builder, Nav Mesh Generator and Object Builder.
Enjoy!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
