In a IAMA discussion at Reddit, Dishonored’s Co-creative Director, Harvey Smith, revealed that the game’s missions are inspired and based on the ones that were featured in two of our most favourite stealth video games, Deus Ex and Thief. Therefore, Dishonored’s missions in terms of depth, combination and flexibility will be identical to the ones from those two classic and beloved FPS games.
As Harvey Smith said:
“If you like Life of the Party in Thief 2, you will like the Dishonored missions in terms of depth, combination, etc. Our missions follow the model of games like Thief or Deus Ex. It’s part of our core values and our design lead – the amazing Christophe Carrier, who worked on Arx Fatalis – really shares those values.”
In addition, Harvey revealed that the game won’t be open-word but mission based, meaning that each mission is built as a mini sandbox, so the missions are open and offer several paths and approaches.
Furthermore, Dishonored’s missions will be very re-playable as there are different pathways to take, powers to use, styles (stealth vs combat), finding hidden areas, a few side missions, morality (lethal vs nonlethal), etc.
Dishonored is currently scheduled for an October 12th release on PC, X360 and PS3!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
