NVIDIA has announced Doom Eternal RTX, an update for Doom Eternal that will add support for both Ray Tracing and DLSS. Although NVIDIA has not provided any additional details, from what we can see, this RTX patch will implement ray-traced reflections.
Unfortunately, this patch will not add any ray-traced global illumination, ray-traced ambient occlusion or ray-traced shadows effects. Or at least that’s what the comparison video hints at. And, to be honest, these new reflections are not what most PC gamers were expecting from Doom Eternal RTX.
In order to showcase Doom Eternal RTX, NVIDIA shared a video showing the first gameplay footage from it. In order to capture this footage, NVIDIA used an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti. The game was running in 4K (I’m assuming it was also using DLSS) and the RTX3080Ti was able to push between 75fps and 110fps.
There is currently no ETA on when the Doom Eternal RTX Patch will become available. NVIDIA stated that Doom Eternal RTX Patch will release in June 2021.
Enjoy!
