Double Fine amd SEGA have officially revealed The Cave. The Cave is the latest project from Ron Gilbert and looks similar to Frozenbyte’s Trine series, albeit a bit more cartoon-ish. This is a 2D perspective puzzle adventure platform with 3D visuals and looks quite promising. The game draws inspiration from Gilbert’s earlier work on PC adventure games and it should not be confused with Double Fine Adventure, the company’s other adventure game that raised over $3 million on Kickstarter earlier this year. The Cave is currently planned for an early 2013 release on PC, X360 and PS3. Enjoy!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”
