It’s been a while since our last UE5 article, right? So, today we’ve got something really cool for you. Christopher Sewell has shared a video, showcasing the first map from Return to Castle Wolfenstein in Unreal Engine 5.
For those unaware, Sewell has worked in games using the previous iterations of Unreal Engine, such as Bombshell and Rad Rodgers. In these two games, Sewell worked as a Q&A Analyst.
Now what’s really cool about this project is that you can download it and play it. While this fan remake does not have any enemies, it allows you to fully explore the first map of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. And hey, it’s at least better than most of the other UE5 projects that don’t include any download link.
Talking about Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other free fan-made demos. After all, we here at DSOGaming have shared numerous of them. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5. Lastly, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in UE 5.3.1. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.
Before closing, I should note that the Path Tracing Mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein is still in development. Back in July 2023, Dihara Wijetunga, AMD’s Senior Graphics R&D Engineer, shared a gameplay video for it. So, while there is still no ETA on when it will come out, I suggest taking a look at that video to see what’s in store.
Have fun!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
